Angel Investor Raffaele Riva Shares What His Workday Is Like

Raffaele Riva is an international businessman. He lives and works in London and New York City as an angel investor. He has a portfolio of more than 12 early-stage firms that he has created over the past 10 years. He was born in England and his extensive education includes attending Oxford University’s Said Business School where he earned an MBA.

Not long after earning his MBA, he co-founded a technology startup along with some people he had met at Oxford. They were able to attract significant amounts of capital early on. It was after selling this company that Raffaele Riva set his sights on becoming an angel investor. He wanted to work along with business owners and chief executive officers to unlock a company’s true potential.

As his business associates are on both side of the Atlantic, Raffaele Riva needs to get up early in the morning when he is at home in London. There’s a five-hour gap between New York City and London so he needs to get up at 5 am in order to sync with his partners in NYC. He spends the morning answering and sending emails, talking on the phone, and setting the day’s agenda. He spends the first few hours of his workday at home before helping his kids get ready for school and then heading into his main office.

Raffaele Riva believes that it is very important to take time out during the day to accomplish personal gains. This includes spending some time meditating or going for a jog. This helps him be more productive and get away from the stresses of meetings, to-do lists, and other things on his professional schedule. He is a fan of “10% Happier” which was written by Dan Harris. He enjoyed the message of the book and it prompted him to learn meditation techniques.
